“Breaking the Ice”…with Mary Zabawski

In this special bonus edition of “Breaking the Ice” we get to know Mary Zabawski.  Mary recently accepted the position of Marketing Coordinator, but she has been a team member at Parks Title for nearly 9 years, working in the title department, primarily in Quality Control. She has a thorough knowledge of title commitment preparation, and continues to assist in the title department, in addition to her new creative duties in marketing.  Kevin McBride, Director of Business Development at Parks Title, had this to say about her. “Mary is one of those go to people. Once she has taken on a project you know it will get done. Her artistic ability is amazing.  She has been a great addition to the sales and marketing team!”

Mary was born and raised in Sterling Heights. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, with a concentration in drawing and painting, from Northern Michigan University, in the upper peninsula. So it might be safe to say that she can handle the cold temperatures we have had recently.   It’s also where she met her best friend, who she spends most of her vacation time with, either traveling or just visiting her in Oklahoma.

Mary’s family is very close, and they are all local to the metro Detroit area. She has one older brother, and he and his wife are expecting their first child, a baby girl, this June. So Mary is soon going to be a first time aunt, something she is most excited about.

Mary is also an accomplished artist.  She has designed and painted the Parks Title holiday card for the last five years.  She spends most of her free time hanging out with friends and family, watching television, and working on her own art. (Check out her website! www.zabawski-arts.com)

Thanks, Mary, for all of your efforts! Keep up the great work!

10 Questions with Mary

1. If you could have any job in the world (apart from the Parks Title Team, of course), what would it be?

Probably something that would pay my best friend and I to travel together. Maybe we could write travelogues. I’ve also always wanted to be an on-site artist, painting on the streets of Paris.

2. What do you keep in the trunk of your car?

Currently a jug of cat litter (for snow emergencies), and a shovel.

3. If you had one extra hour of free time per day, how would you use it?

Probably either sleeping, watching tv, or painting/drawing.

4. If you were to perform in the circus, what would you do, and why?

I don’t think I’d be performing. I’d probably be behind the scenes somewhere, maybe designing sets for the different acts.

5. What type of punctuation mark best represents your personality?

Probably the question mark. I spend a lot of time in my own head, thinking things through and questioning things. Also, I enjoy learning new things, having my questions answered.

6. What is the weirdest (unusual) thing you’ve ever eaten?

Haha, I’m not at all adventurous when it comes to food, though I’ve finally acquired a taste for horseradish, which a lot of people don’t like.

7. If you could plan your ultimate vacation, where would you go?

So many places…but someday I really hope to go to Poland and see where my family is from.

8. What is the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning?

What is that noise? (I’m easily confused by the alarm.)

9. Tell me some things you’re thankful for.

I’m so grateful for my amazing family, my friends who are as close as family, and their continued support in my life. I’m grateful for my job and every opportunity I’ve had in life. And I’m grateful for technology, for making long distance communication easier.

10. What do you enjoy about being a member of the Parks Title team?

I’ve made some truly great friends working here. We have an amazing group of people on our team. And I love that Parks has given me the opportunity to share some of my creative talents in my everyday job, and contribute to the company in a variety of ways.
